WASH

Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene(Wash) Program

About the program

GFDLP is concerned with the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) situation because globally 2 billion people use and drink water from contaminated and inappropriate sources. In Cameroon especially, potable water shortages are common in many areas, and alternative water sources used commonly are of doubtful quality and largely seasonal. Also, water-borne diseases are the leading causes of death. Accordingly, GFDLP intervenes in the area of WASH with the following areas of focus:

  • Support for community water projects and drilling of boreholes in areas where naturally occurring water sources are not close by.
  • Sensitization campaigns on water treatment and hygiene promotion
  • Provision of drinking vessels, washing hand buckets, and aqua tabs to families in remote villages with less than $1.5 daily income.
  • Latrine design and construction
  • Maintenance of water points.
  • Provision of WASH in emergencies services.
