GFDLP Partners With Buea Council To Provide For Social Justice

The Mayor of Buea Council, Patrick Ekema Esunge, has lauded the Legal Aid Commission of the Global Forum for the Defence of the Less Privileged (GFDLP).  

He was speaking, Friday June 30, 2017, while approving a partnership agreement with the Civil Society Organisation (CSO), to foster the Legal Aid Programme in the Buea municipality. 

According to Mayor Ekema Patrick Esunge, the Buea Council is going to be part of the programme by providing assistance to GFDLP through the Social Services Department in the restoration of social justice within the various communities. 

“GFDLP will work on court cases, disputes among families and indigenous communities, help youths especially those with disabilities. The Legal Aid programme is going to occupy the youths and solve the problem of unemployment,” Mayor Ekema affirmed. 

The Buea Council Chief Executive confirmed the council’s determination to assist the socially vulnerable in all fields. “The Buea Council has already recruited youths living with disabilities to provide them a means of survival,” he revealed. 

Mayor Patrick Ekema proclaimed that GFDLP will henceforth, be part of the delegation representing the council at the Legal Aid Commission in court. 

Commenting on the landmark endorsement by Buea Council, the Chief Executive Officer of GFDLP and head of the Legal Aid Programme, Akoh Baudouin Ngah said the approval from the council will enable GFDLP extend the Legal Aid Programme to the nooks and crannies of Buea Municipality. He acknowledged the role Buea Council has been playing in the facilitation of various initiatives carried out by the GFDLP programme. 

“The Mayor and Buea council has been of great help to GFDLP ever since we commenced our operations in the municipality. We pray the collaboration continues forever,” GFDLP boss said.
